Landscape profiles
The updated landscape classification identifies 14 Landscape Character Types (LCTS) and 42 Landscape Character Areas (LCAs), each representing a distinct identity and common geology, topography, land use and cultural patterns. These include:
- LCT 1: Open Chalk Escarpment and Upper Slopes
- LCT 2: Wooded Chalk Escarpment
- LCT 3: Open Chalk Dipslope
- LCA 4: Wooded Chalk Plateau and Valleys
- LCA 5: Wooded Chalk Ridges and Valleys
- LCA 6: Chalk Escarpment Footslopes
- LCA 7: Ridge Hilltops
- LCA 8: Ridge Slope
- LCA 9: Vale Edge Slopes
- LCA 10: Lower Vale Hills
- LCA 11: Upper Vale
- LCA 12: Mid Vale
- LCA 13: Lower Vale
- LCA 14: River Valleys
